A new marine outfall is to be built on Hangzhou Bay in suburban Jinshan District to improve the quality of inland waterways near the bay. The level of rivers in the district during flood seasons has been rising. The new outfall involves a 2-kilometer waterway and a 4-kilometer flood barrier.
