New marine outfall to improve water quality
From:Shine  |  2018-12-26 10:29

A new marine outfall at Hangzhou Bay is to be built in Shanghai's suburban Jinshan District to facilitate the discharge of storm water and improve the water quality of the district's inland rivers.

The outfall, due to be finished in 2020, is part of the treatment of the Zhangjing River, a branch of the Huangpu River.

There is currently only one outfall in Jinshan at Longquan. The level of rivers in the district during flood seasons has been rising and the discharge capacity of Jinshan is falling short.

The Zhangjing flows from Damaogang Town in Songjiang to the very south of Jinshan District. Since the discharge capacity in the south of Jinshan is poor, the water quality of the river is an issue.

The new marine outfall involves a 2-kilometer waterway and a 4-kilometer flood barrier. A pumping station and six bridges will also be built.
