Shaoxing gears up for integrated development of Yangtze River Delta

Authorities from Shaoxing in neighboring Zhejiang Province signed 15 projects totaling 35.18 billion yuan (US$5.2 billion) in Shanghai on Saturday as the city is stepping up cooperation with Shanghai and other cities in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The 15 projects covered a variety of areas including information technology, intelligent equipment, biological medicine, new materials and education, and medical treatment.

The government of Shaoxing also signed cooperation agreements with UNISOC, a top chip designer in China, over an integrated circuit (design) industry chain project, and the National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center over the establishment of the Shaoxing sub-center.

It also inked a strategic partnership agreement with the Shanghai University.

These agreements were signed during a promotion event in Shanghai over the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region and the cooperation between Shaoxing and Shanghai.

Shaoxing has conducted a lot of fruitful cooperationwith Shanghai in the industries such as integrated circuit and biological medicine and the two sides also have very close exchanges in areas such as science and technology, finance and university education, said Ma Weiguang, Party secretary of Shaoxing, during the event.

Entrepreneurs from Shaoxing have established about 20,000 enterprises in Shanghai.

There are 43 high-speed railway trains from Shaoxing to Shanghai every day with 1.6 million passengers annually. There are 44 high-speed rail trains from Shanghai to Shaoxing daily carrying 1.6 million passengers annually.

Shaoxing is an ancient city known for its yellow wine.

A symposium on Shaoxing's involvement in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region was also held in Shanghai on Saturday.
