Seven people suspected of the theft offour shared electric cars have been apprehended by police.

They work for the company which offers shared-car service, police said.

On June 21, the company reportedtwo cars missing from the parking lot at the maglevtrain station onLongyang Road in Pudong.

The company said it had lost track of their GPS signals.

Police suspected insiders as they would know where the GPS devices were located and be able to turn them off.

After viewing surveillance camera footage, police tracked down two of the suspects and said they then named aother four. A seventh turned himself in to police.

Police said they had confessed to stealing the cars, valued at over 500,000 yuan (US$73,000), for their own use.
