Free tourist-spot entry for tall children
From:Shanghai Daily  |  2019-08-07 07:29

New ticket rules at over 20 tourist spots in Shanghai should free more parents from having to buy tickets for children who exceed height requirements.

Age rules have now been introduced, Shanghai Consumer Council said yesterday.

At a recent conference, the council and counterparts in the Yangtze River Delta region urged tourist spots to amend their rules so that children “taller than they’re supposed to be for their age” get free entry.

Previously, at most tourist spots in the region, only height rules applied.

The council said its initiative had been positively received by over 240 firms running tourist spots within the region.

In Shanghai, the new rules have been applied at popular attractions such as Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Yuyuan Garden and Madame Tussauds wax museum.

However, age restrictions can vary. At some places children not older than 6 years old can get free entry, while at others free tickets are only for children not older than 3.
