From:Shine  |  2019-08-09 15:29

State Grid Shanghai Company has applied a new technology to battle upcoming typhoon Lekima.

The typhoon detection alarm system is connected with the data-receiving station of weather satellites and weather radar stations.

With 55 sets of the system installed across the city which cover all 110 kilowatts cable lines, state grid can anticipate wind direction and scale as well as the amount of rain 72 hours ahead.

Workers and engineers are able to fix power lines and supply extra to substations in areas the system estimates will be impacted.

Meanwhile, State Grid has carried out inspection at 50 hospitals and 47 water drainage stations. More than 350 hazards were rectified.

More than 1,100 emergency repair vehicles, 51 power generators and 813 pumps have been prepared across the city.

State Grid said the peak power load of the city over the weekend is expected to reach 25 million kilowatts. The company expects it can offer up to 28 million kilowatts.

Residents whose premises have blackouts are advised to call the emergency line of State Grid at 95598. Workers will come as soon as possible.
