Skywalks to connect offices, shops
From:Shanghai Daily  |  2019-08-13 07:29

Two new skywalks to be built over Beidi Road will connect major businesses and commercial complexes in downtown, the Changning District government said yesterday.

The skywalks that will open in 2020 near Xiehe and Fuquan roads will make it easier to access the office buildings and shopping centers at the nearby Linkong business park.

Two new tunnels have been built for pedestrians, thus ensuring uninterrupted traffic on the road.

Beidi is an expressway to the Linkong park that generally gets heavy traffic. The new skywalks and tunnels will make it easier for people to cross the road to offices and shopping plazas, the district government said.

The road, built in 1925, connects the city’s Middle Ring Road and theJiading-Minhang Elevated Highway.

It is also the west beginning of the under-construction Beiheng Passage, a 19-kilometer east-west road linking Changning, Putuo, Jing’an, Huangpu, Hongkou and Yangpu districts.
