A feast of culture in Pudong

Residents in the Pudong New Area will be enjoying a feast of events when the Pudong Festival of Culture and Artkicks off on September 30.

The two-month festival's over 600 events will include 17 musicals, concerts and plays presented by artists from home and abroad.

The classic "Four Generations Under One Roof" adapted from Lao She’s novel will be staged on October 30 and 31. "National Anthem," a musical telling the story ofNie Er's"March of the Volunteers," the national anthem of the People's Republic of China, will be presented by Shanghai Opera House on October 4 and 5.

Art groups from Poland, Estonia, the Czech Republic, and the UKwill be bringing productions.

Shows will be performed at Shanghai Oriental Art Center and five other venues across the district.

The festival box office will open on September 25 and there will be 15,000 concession tickets for people who live or work in Pudong which can be pre-ordered attheOriental Art Center, Huinan Qunxing OperaHouse or Waigaoqiao Culture and Art Center.

Concession tickets for shows at the Oriental Art Center will be 80 yuan (US$ 11.3). For the shows staged in other venues, the price will be 20 yuan. Each person can buy two concession tickets.

The price for ordinary tickets will be revealed after the office box opens from Wednesday, and there will be no replenishment for the concession tickets after the 15,000 are sold out.
