Customs in north China’s Shanxi Province have arrested two suspects for smuggling a total of over 173 rare lizards, authorities said yesterday.

Customs in the provincial capital Taiyuan had received a tip-off that a seller in Taiwan surnamed Ni mailed two packages of rare animals under national protection. They found 58 dead Varanus exanthematicus lizards and green iguanas.
