A total of 1.5 tons of ambulance devices were transported from Shanghai to Wuhan on Tuesday.

Medical equipment weighing around 1.5 tonswas transported from Shanghai toWuhan, heart of the current coronavirus epidemic, on Tuesday afternoon.

Around 80 medical devices, which can equip 10 ambulances, were collected byRuijinHospital after an urgent request from the Red Cross Society of China.

The goods were due to be transported by two helicopters arranged by the Red Cross but weather conditions in Shanghai meant they couldn’t fly. The goods finally got on their way on trucks driven by members of a veteran rescue association.

The drivers are retired soldiers who have been involved in anti-epidemic transport since the Spring Festival.

Dr ChenHaitao, vice president ofRuijinHospital, said it had sent four medical teams toWuhanand three teams to Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center, the city’s designated hospital for coronavirus patients.
