Airline starts recruiting via remote video interviews
From:Shine  |  2020-02-18 17:29

A candidate surnamed Qin from Wuhan City, the heart of the coronavirus outbreak, has a video interview with Spring Airlines on Tuesday morning.

Spring Airlines started conducting its annual round of recruitment interviews via video conference on Tuesday, marking the first non-contact hiring process in China's civil aviation industry.

The Shanghai-based budget carrier is recruiting big-data engineers and trainees among this year's university graduates.

Newly recruited employees from key affected areas of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, such as central China's Hubei Province, can work from home and officially join the carrier after the end of the epidemic, the airline said.

A candidate surnamed Qin from Wuhan City, the heart of the coronavirus outbreak, received a video interview at her home with the airline's human resources officials on Tuesday morning.

The postgraduate with a degree in quantitative finance from the University of Manchester is under quarantine at home.

"I cherish this remote interview opportunity because I cannot attend any face-to-face interviews nowadays," Qin said.

The airline is developing over 200 Internet projects in 2020 which require professionals like Qin, according to the airline's human resources department. They will be recruited as algorithm engineers to help analyze fuel consumption, crew arrangements, market income and pilot management, according to the airline.

Interviewees can send a video of their answers to preliminary questions to the airline. Those who enter the second round of interviews will be invited to talk with Spring recruits via video conference.

Though the ongoing coronavirus epidemic has affected the airline's operations, the carrier won't change its recruitment plans this year, according to the head of human resources department of the airline.
