The Shanghai Archives collected its first batch of documents yesterday recording how the city fought the novel coronavirus outbreak.
More materials about the prevention campaign are being solicited from the public and other sources.
About 4,000 items, including written records, photos, manuscripts and objects, have been donated to the local archives so far.
A document entitled “Shanghai Subdistricts and Towns Report” records the prevention measures against COVID-19, such as home quarantine, highway entry inspections, donations, mask reservations, business restoration and efforts to prevent imported cases.
“These documents are the historical memory of Shanghai during this special period,” said Xu Weiwan, archives curator.
