ShanghaiRen'aiHospital has donated 15 boxes of medical supplies to the Consulate General of India in Shanghai and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Shanghai, for epidemic prevention in the two countries.

Both are in a tough fight with the novel coronavirus and a rising number of patients has been confirmed. By Tuesday, India had 4,421 coronavirus patients, 10 percent of those who had a nucleic acid test, with a death toll of 118.

Thailand had 2,258 confirmed patients by 10:32am on Tuesday with 26 deaths and 1,408 in hospitalized.

Both facing a possible shortage of medical supplies as the virus spreads.

The hospital set up a special team for overseas donations and raised supplies including surgical masks, protective clothing and hand sanitizer. The supplies were sent to the two consulates on Wednesday.

ArunKumarPanwar, consul with the Consulate General of India in Shanghai, said China and India have a long friendship and it moved them that the hospital can give them support with important medical supplies when India is short of epidemic prevention items. He hoped the Chinese people could travel to India in the future to feel their affection toward Chinese.

SasiritTangulrat, consul-general of the Thai Consulate, said China's sharing experiences on battling the coronavirus with other countries made traditional Chinese medicine known to the public all over the world.

He appreciated the hospital for providing precious experience and other supports and hoped China and Thailand can work together to defeat the virus and overcome difficulties.

LiuChunlong, president of the hospital, said coronavirus is the common enemy for all countries and it is willing to contribute to overseas friends' epidemic prevention with its own supplies.
