The Shanghai Youth League announced new incentives for the city's registered volunteers on Sunday.

Volunteers with no negative credit record in the past three years can apply for apartments for rent from the government on priority plans under the recommendation from the youth league.

The youth organization has so far entered into cooperation with 67 companies which offer about 300 benefits, worth about 600 million yuan (US$88), for its volunteers.

Over 10,000 volunteers have received discounts when renting apartments, and 10 top volunteers have received free rented apartments for 12 months.

By the end of last month, there were some 1.6 million volunteers and over 2,400 volunteer service organizations registered under the organization.They have contributed over 6.8 million hours to volunteer services, according to the youth league.
