A safety drill involving buses and taxis was conducted by the city’s transportation commission on Sunday in preparation for this year’s China International Import Expo in November.

To test various measures in the event of vehicle accidents, a total of 50 buses, 50 taxis and 700 personnel took part in the emergency drill.

The drill took place in a parking lot next to the National Convention and Exhibition Center, the CIIE venue. Six types of emergency situations were simulated, including a bus fire, accidents involving taxis and buses, and an epidemic control incident.

The drill started with the simulated combustion of a shuttle bus in the parking lot during the expo. On-site personnel quickly evacuated "passengers" from the bus.

As part of emergency measures, participants alerted nearby vehicles, closed nearby Metro passages and adjusted taxi drop-off points. The "fire" was extinguished successfully after fire trucks arrived.

Emergency response to a suspected case of the coronavirus was also exercised.

During the CIIE, if a person with fever is detected in the subway or buses, security workers will guide them to a temporary observation point.

Security teams will be allocated at railway stations and airports responsible for checking passengers’ health codes. Suspected infection cases will be sent for observation in a special vehicle.
