Amonthlongxiaolongculture festival opened in Jiading District’s Nanxiang Town on Monday.

Nanxiangis home toxiaolong, the small steamed buns with a pork filling in a tasty broth.

Paying respect to the medical workers, police officers and volunteers who contributed to the city's fight against COVID-19, town representatives presented them with gift boxes ofxiaolong, going around the town in three minibuses after a launch ceremony.

The festival used to feature a large public feast ofxiaolong, but due to the pandemic the event won't be held this year. However, the festival remains an occasion for residents to celebrate and for tourists to relishxiaolongand other town treats.

Axiaolong-making competition for both professionals and amateurs will take place atGuyiGarden on October 16, and a store featuring cartoon xiaolong figures and other popular cartoon characters created in the town opened on Monday at the tourist information center onNanxiangOld Street.

On Monday, tourists were introduced toYuJinXiangwine, a rice wine that originated in the town and is often served at local weddings. Tourists who visitedTanyuanGarden got a free bottle at a shop onRenminStreet.
