Shanghai International Medical Center is exploring the internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) services, officials said on Tuesday during the Traditional Chinese Medicine Healthcare Forum.
As one of the first facilities offering medical tourism services, the center has launched a project to offer TCM-related diagnosis, treatment and cultural experiences, said Liu Weidong, the medical center's president.
The center has offered lectures to expatriates and residents and carried out talent training through cooperation with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Shanghai is promoting TCM for use in disease prevention and healthcare. Lectures and courses on TCM are now being offered in office buildings, communities and schools.
Health officials say they will survey expatriates and high-end workers in the Pudong New Area on their interest in TCM, and offer more targeted education and health services in the future.
