Two imported COVID-19 cases reported in Shanghai

The city reported two new imported coronavirus case on Monday, while a patient was discharged upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Tuesday morning.

The first patient is a Chinese student from the US who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on October 3 and showed symptoms during quarantine at a designated place.

The second is a ship crew member from the Philippines whose ship arrived in Shanghai on September 30 for maintenance.

All the new patients have been transferred to a designated hospital for treatment, while 72 close contacts with them have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

Meanwhile, an Iraqi patient was discharged upon recovery, the commission said.

So far, of all the 682 imported cases, 623 have been discharged upon recovery and 59 are still hospitalized.

Four imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported during the last 24 hours, according to the commission.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
