Much to their delight, passengers taking Shanghai Airlines’ flights FM9452 and FM802 are greeted in Shanghai dialect upon boarding the plane. 

Marked by its soft, gentle and mild tones, the Shanghai dialect is a prominent local language in South China. Since July 15th, Shanghai Airlines has introduced Shanghai dialect airline announcements for two of its domestic flights: FM9452 (Kunming to Shanghai Hongqiao) and FM802 (Taipei to Shanghai Pudong).

Ms. Mao Shanyu, a famed Shanghai opera singer and artist, and Mr. Lin Jiaqing, a male crew member of Shanghai Airlines, were invited to record the inflight announcements. Their unique voices not only bring a sweet feeling of homecoming to Shanghai locals, but also present the charm of Shanghai culture to other passengers who are coming to the city.
