Zhong Shan, also chairman of the seventh meeting of trade ministers of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, gave a speech at the press conference for the two-day event.

According to Zhong, the meeting released a joint statement and reached eight major deliverables for commercial cooperation, including establishing a model E-port network, pushing investment facilitation, supporting multilateral trading, and enforcing technical cooperation, etc.

Contributing nearly one-quarter of global economic output and half of world economic growth, BRICS nations play an increasingly significant role in driving the global economy and governance.

In terms of investment among BRICS, "the Outlines for BRICS Investment Facilitation approved at this meeting for the first time being approved on a multilateral level, which not only provides policy guideline for BRICS countries, but also gives important reference for global nations." said Zhang Shaogang, director of the International Affairs Department of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

When talking about the remarkable results of this meeting, Zhong claimed,"this is the meeting at which we have reached largest number of achievements. It fully demonstrates the BRICS spirit featuring openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation."

The event is a major preparatory session on the commercial front for the Ninth BRICS Summit in September in Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian province. It is also the first trade ministers' meeting of the 2nd golden decade for BRICS cooperation.
