By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2017-08-17 08:56

The service station for outdoor workers in the Jing’an District Workers Service Center was officially put in use on August 11. Sanitation workers, postal delivery workers and taxi drivers finally have a place to rest during their break.

The station located at No. 888 Changping Road is the city’s first service station for outdoor workers set up by the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions. Its five-square-meter space is well-equipped with stools and tables, a newspaper rack, a microwave, a water dispenser as well as a refrigerator full of bottled water, offering outdoor workers a place to rest and shelter from the harsh weather.

Wang Guolin, a delivery worker from eastern China’s Anhui Province, told the reporter, the station enables him to have a good rest during his long working hours and it makes him feel very happy to work in Shanghai.

According to the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions, a special fund has been earmarked to build a total of 93 service stations for outdoor workers across the city, which will be put in place by the end of September. So far, five service stations have been opened in Jing’an District.
