Located on the Loess Plateau, the schools were ill-equipped with shabby classrooms and scarce book resources. The 10 thousand more books which obtained through a Shanghai citizens' donation activity held in May are expected to broaden the students' eyesight.

"I witnessed students' excitement when they received these books. One book bears one dream, and one book opens one world." said Chen Min, general manager of the market department of Shanghai Lianjia who participated in the activity. In each school Chen arrived, she would take time to tell the inspiring story of Jonathan Livingston Seagull to encourage the students.

The construction of loving care libraries for schools in remote and poor mountainous areas by Lianjia was started in 2011. As of the end of September this year, Lianjia has constructed altogether 129 libraries nationwide with 500,000 books donated, benefiting more than 45,000 students. As for Jingyuan county of Gansu province only, 17 libraries have been built with 25,000 books donated, benefiting 3022 teenagers.
