On September 27 and 28, 13 licensed housekeeping agencies across Shanghai participated in a campaign in Pudong New Area and Huangpu, Xuhui, Yangpu, Jing’an, Putuo and Minhang districts, promising that they will only employ housekeepers with certificates.

So far, a total of 43,000 housekeepers in Shanghai have been trained and obtained a certificate.

A QR code is printed on the back side of each certificate. Employers who intend to hire a housekeeper can scan the code to get the basic information of the housekeeper, including his or her profile, specialty and ID card number. Starting November, employers will also be able to check the housekeeper’s competency, working experiences and service credits.

Nowadays, housekeepers are in high demand in Shanghai. In most cases, when both the husband and the wife in a family have to work, housekeepers are needed to deal with the housework and look after the children or the elderly. But what concerns the families is that how to hire a good housekeeper who deserves a high salary. To solve the issue, Shanghai launched the housekeeper certificate program to ensure the competency and creditability of housekeepers.
