National Theatre of China to show up in Shanghai

2017 Shanghai performance season of National Theatre of China falls on November 1 to November 22. Four creative dramas Gu Wenchang, the Prince of Lanling, Popcorn and Devil Land will show up in Shanghai with Gu Wenchang as one program of the 19th Shanghai International Arts Festival.

All the four repertoires embody profound themes. As a realistic work based on true stories of Gu Wenchang, a Communist party member cadre, the drama Gu Wenchang aims to spread positive values and carry forward the true, the good and the beautiful. The Prince of Lanling and Devil Land are creative expressions of traditional Chinese culture.Popcorn is adapted from world classical work.

Zhou Yuyuan, dean of National Theatre of China explained that these four repertoires fully show the production ideas of “Chinese origin, world classics, experimental exploration”. Zhou claimed that this year marks the 110 anniversary of the birth of Chinese drama, the theater will be committed to narrating wonderful Chinese stories.

Since its first show in 2014, Shanghai performance season of National Theatre of China has presented more than 10 excellent repertoires, leaving a good impression among drama enthusiasts.
