The 7th Phicomm Cup Shanghai Dragon Boat Race is to take place in Xiayang Lake in Qingpu District on October 28, the same day of China’s traditional Double Ninth Festival.

On October 13, a press conference was held to launch the event. According to the event’s organizational committee, around one hundred teams composed of more than 3,000 people will contend for the championship, setting a new record of the number of participants. 

The event, jointly held by Phicomm, a Shanghai-based communication technology company, and the Shanghai Dragon Boat Association, is offering four categories of races for adults, families and high school students. Expatriates in Shanghai are also welcome to take part and enjoy themselves in the event.  

Apart from dragon boat races, kite flying and dragon dances will also be showcased. To the delight of spectators and those in attendance, the competition organizers have also arranged a series of performances to promote the local folk culture and intangible cultural heritage.
