Born in Baotou, Inner Mogolia, Huang Wei once studied in Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. Through studying Chinese painting and traditional Tibet painting and creatively integrating elements of the two, he was highly praised by the domestic and international art circle. His works have been exhibited in Britain, Hong Kong and the mainland China.

According to Huang, the landscape in Tibet inspired him,“the first time I arrived in Tibet, I was shocked by the clouds on the sky, and I often sit and watch them for hours.”

Huang introduced that his paintings are neither purely Tibet style nor purely Chinese style, instead, his understanding of the landscape and traditional culture helped him integrate the essence of the two arts and create his own artistic style works.

The exhibition is also one part of the series of activity ”Window of Tibet culture in Shanghai”, a promotion program carried forward by the government of Tibet Autonomous Region.
