A total of 300 people joined a charity walk early this month to raise fund for needy alumni of the East China Normal University (ECNU).

People involved in the good cause were members of the ECNU Alumni Association and their family. Coming from Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Beijing, Sichuan, Shenzhen and other cities of China, they gathered together to raise fund for needy alumni.

Different activities were designed for families, friends and couples. Along the route, participants had to finish several games to win prizes, which were later exchanged for money to be donated. They could also win commemorative medals if they finished the tasks as required.

Wen Yingjie is an economics graduate of ECNU in 1991. While taking part in the charity walk with his daughter, he came across his university counselor during the event. “I’m on the parent-kid team with my daughter. Apart from doing exercise, we can do our bit for charity. We should develop kids’ sense of charity from childhood,” said Wen.

The idea of holding the charity walk was put forward by some ECNU alumni, who intended to donate money for an alumnus suffering from leukemia. By partnering with a mobile platform for charity, the alumni association managed to raise a fund of 100,000 Yuan, said the organizers.

Last but not least, with the ECNU Alumni Association (Nanjing) inheriting the legacy of the charity campaign, another charity walk will soon be organized and held in Nanjing.
