Teenagers in Shanghai are now celebrating a film carnival, as the 2nd National Film Week for Primary and Middle School Students kicked off on December 10.

Compared with the first edition of the Film Week held in 2015, this year’s event will promote a total of 31 films to the students nationwide. Among them, 16 films of different genres will be screened in movie theaters, including box office hits “War Wolf 2” and “Operation Mekong,” cartoon films “The Monkey King” and “Rock Dog” and two award-winning children’s films. The other 15 films will be screened either on TV, online or on campuses.

During the week, students can vote for their favorite movies online and the result will be announced at the closing ceremony of the Film Week on December 16.

Apart from that, the Film Week also offers an opportunity for teenagers to experience the movie culture. For instance, they can walk into the Shanghai Film Museum to explore how a movie is filmed and produced. Film and television educators will enter primary and middle schools to give lectures on film reviews and commentary, with an aim to promote film appreciation among students.
