Intelligent vehicle catches the eye

2017 China Intelligent Vehicle Championship (CIVC) was held at Shanghai International Circuit and the closed test area ofNational Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Shanghai) Pilot Zone on December 11-13.

The competition consisted of driverless car group, involving 12 teams, smart assist group, information security group and offline testing group and all the participants came from traditional car companies, universities, research institutes and emerging Internet companies. The participating vehicles were required to have four wheels or above.

Driverless car group is the most attracting. Through remote calling, task starting, driving at S-curve, pedestrian avoidance, linear acceleration and deceleration, overtaking, car following, detour due to construction and automatic parking, the driverless cars showed their vehicle awareness, decision-making and implementation of the comprehensive ability.

1.24 million people die of traffic accidents on average each year in the world, and this figure may reach 2.2 million by 2030 according to statistics, while the promotion of driverless vehicle can reduce fatigue driving and drunk driving. Besides, it also has stronger capabilities of pavement estimation and information integration.
