The design of the new site of Shanghai Children's Library has been finished. This new library will be located in Putuo District.

The new site, south of Daduhe Road and north of Gubeilu Bridge, will cover 16,000 square meters. It seems like the library is in a huge city park with Changfeng Park in the north and Suzhou River in the south.

According to the new design, the library looks like a bridge with an overhead bottom and a roof garden. The library is a place for knowledge pursuit, self-growth, personality improvement, and also a bridge that links human childhood and maturity.

The new site is quite distinctive in interior space. Drawing on the "Babel Library" concept, the site flexibly combines various functional spaces and smooth stairs, forming itself into an open, spiral, interesting and complex reading space.

Shanghai Children's Library was formerly a private library founded in 1941, and it has been located in West Nanjing Road 962 since 1958, covering 4,425 square meters. The library owns 820,000 books and offers 464 seats.
