Exhibition held to commemorate anti-Japanese history

An articles exhibition of Japanese invaders’atrocities in Songhu, Shanghai is being held in Shanghai Songhu Anti-Japanese Campaign Memorial Hall on December 13,the national memorial day for victims of the Nanjing Massacre.

A piece of Japanese Samurai sword used to slaughter Chinese in the wartime had its first show to the public. It was contributed by Shi Nanyang, descendant of Shi Meiyu, a presiding judge of Nanjing Military Tribunal. In addition, an oral record of Certificate by 42 survivors is issued for the first time. Meanwhile, visitors of the hall could also appreciate the film Defenders which shows the scene of Baoshan Defence Campaign.

Located in Baoshan District, Shanghai, the 12-story hall is the country’s only memorial hall exhibiting the two Songhu Anti-Japanese Campaigns. In 2014, it was named as one of China’s top 80 venues related to the War against Japanese Aggression.

As the main battlefield of the Songhu Anti-Japanese Campaign, Shanghai has built lots of anti-Japanese war memorials and named roads after war heroes to commemorate history, including The Invading Japanese’s Landing Site in South Gate of Jinshan Weicheng, January 28th Incident Memorial Road, Zizhong Road, etc.
