A cuisine culture theme activity “A Bite of Pudong International Airport” kicked off in Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The one-year event sponsored by the airport and many catering businesses intends to carry forward the food culture and develop Shanghai-style airport food brand.

As a prelude to the cultural activity, a cuisine culture hall in terminal 2 of the airport has opened already. With 50 old brand goodies which are especially chosen, the hall showcases the essence of Chinese food culture and local cultural features of Shanghai.

It is expected that a series of food-themed festivals like coffee festival, tea festival, ham festival, etc. will be launched during the year-long event. The activities are expected to impress passengers with the integration of traditional Chinese food culture and the Shanghai-style culture.

With the number of passengers increasing, as a transport hub integrating the functions of aviation, railway, bus and long-distance passenger transport, Pudong International Airport becomes a super commercial complex. In recent years, catering brands have been upgraded and more chain brands have been introduced there. Moreover, the airport has joined the "transparent kitchen" project initiated by Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. Some chain restaurants operating at the airport have installed "video kitchen" through which customers can see how food is prepared in the kitchen.
