Winter is coming and it is time to enjoy strawberries! Good news for strawberry lovers: A strawberry culture and art festival is taking place in Chongming, the northernmost district of Shanghai.

During the festival which kicked off on December 23 and is now in its sixth edition, strawberries produced on the local farm are used to make juice, fried rice with eggs and strawberries, strawberry cupcakes, pork rib soup with strawberries and so on. People can eat to their heart’s content in the fantastic world of strawberry.

Although growing strawberry in Chongming started just a few years ago, the plantation areas and quality of the fruit have seen a significant rise during the recent years. New varieties keep being introduced, apart from native Japanese strawberry varieties.

The strawberry culture and art festival will last until May, 2018. Besides the delicacies, the event organizer has also arranged a wide range of experiential activities for festival-goers.
