As one of the first trial cities for easier visa for foreign professionals and high-skilled workers, Shanghai has issued 52 visas for foreign talents since it carried out the policy, the top in the nation.

The 52 foreigners who achieved the visa are all high-end talents, for example, two have won 2017 China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award, six acted as directors or academicians of overseas institutes, five were professors of overseas high-level universities and so on.

The expiration date of the visa could be extended to 5 to 10 years after issuance, with multiple entries and 180-day stays for a single entry. Spouses and minor children of the talents enjoy the same visa priorities.

In recent years, Shanghai has been striving hard in absorbing talents. The specialized service team is arranged to serve for foreign talents of the cooperation projects as soon as the projects with education, science and culture units or scientific research institutes are confirmed.
