The sixth China-Eurasia Expo will be held in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from August 30 to September 3, 2018. The topic for this year will be "wide consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits under Belt and Road initiative ". In an effort to deepen the international cooperation under the Belt and Road initiative, the Executive Committee of the sixth China-Eurasia Expo has come to Shanghai to promote the expo.

The China-Eurasia Expo is a biennially held international fair and has been widely accepted by more than 103 countries and regions since its inception in 2011, with a total number of visitors reaching 2.01 million and a total amount for domestic projects signed during previous expos exceeding 1 trillion yuan, and the foreign trade turnover amounting to 34 billion U.S. dollars.

The secretary-general of the Secretariat of the 6th China-Eurasia Expo said at the promotion event that the expo has been an important diplomatic platform between China and Asian and European countries, a major force for the construction of the Belt and Road initiative, as well as an important gateway for showcasing Xinjiang and even the whole country’s efforts in reform and opening up, with ever-increasing influence.

“The China-Eurasia Expo is an important platform which can fully bring out Xinjiang’s geographic advantages and is also the focus of Shanghai’s efforts in supporting the development of Xinjiang. Shanghai has organized its enterprises to participate in the China-Eurasia Expo for five consecutive times and thus has created favorable conditions for Shanghai and Xinjiang to leverage their complementary advantages and enhance their business and trade exchange. So far, Shanghai has started its task of recruiting and supporting local enterprises to attend this year’s expo, in an effort to expand the city’s cooperation with the China-Eurasia Expo and provide more development opportunities for enterprises both in Shanghai and Xinjiang”, said Ma Chunlei, deputy secretary-general of Shanghai Municipal Government.

In terms of exhibition space distribution, five main exhibition zones will be set up in line with the theme of constructing the Silk Road Economic Belt for this year’s expo. The five dedicated exhibition zones will be Cooperation and Image zone, International & Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Regions of China zone, Products and Trade zone, Fruits of Precise Poverty Alleviation Zone and Asian and European Publication Exhibition zone.
