By:Zheng Qian  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2018-03-30 09:03

A report on Shanghai residents’entrepreneurship was issued on March 28 by Shanghai Municipal Human resources and social security Bureau, announcing that in 2017, the overall entrepreneurial activity rate of Shanghai residents was 12.6% with the intentional entrepreneurship rate being 15.4% and entrepreneurial activities showed a rational upward trend.

Experts explain that four reasons may result in the active entrepreneurial activity. Firstly, since the mass entrepreneurship and innovation strategy was carried forward by the government, various supporting policies are attractive to people; secondly, amid the popular atmosphere of entrepreneurship, those successfully start up a business inspire more young people to follow suit; thirdly, as various maker spaces, incubators and investment funds flourish, entrepreneurial services have become more professional and convenient; fourthly, with new technologies and new industries continuously upgrading, the economic vitality of various industries has been fully stimulated to create more business opportunities.

The report also states that the most prominent innovation lies in aspects of service model, marketing and business running method.

Since 2005, the bureau has been conducting citizens’entrepreneurship for 13 years in reference to the research framework and method of “Global Entrepreneurship Monitor”(GEM). The survey results objectively reflect the current situation and make predictions on future trends.
