1. Slingshot competition held in Shanghai

On Monday, March 26, more than 400 shooters competed with each other in the 2018 CSCC Slingshot Club Championship Shanghai competition in Jiading. In the competition, which consists of a preliminary, a qualifying and a final round, males and females compete on the same field. The ten finalists, including two females, were enabled to take part in the Slingshot World Cup in Italy this June.

2. Consul General of Israel calls for your design

The Consulate General of Israel in Shanghai kicked off a diplomatic gift design competition on March 26, in celebration of the 26th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Israel, and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel. The theme of the design should be “Impressions of 70 years of Israeli innovation from a Chinese perspective.”Participants should submit their designs of either one necktie or one scarf with the required specifications. The winnerswill be rewarded with a free tour to Israel.

3. 2018 Asia Art and Finance Forum opens in Shanghai

2018 Asia Art and Finance Forum as well as Business Model of Art & Finance and its Innovation was held in Shanghai on March 28. The forum, sponsored by the Asia Institute of Art & Finance (AIAF), brings together top Chinese and foreign experts for the purpose of discussing the innovative mode of artworks finance industry at home and abroad to push forward the cross-border development of the Chinese art finance.

4. Shanghai citizens’ entrepreneurial rationally upward

A report on Shanghai residents’ entrepreneurship was issued on March 28 by Shanghai Municipal Human resources and social security Bureau, announcing that in 2017, the overall entrepreneurial activity rate of Shanghai residents was 12.6% with the intentional entrepreneurship rate being 15.4% and entrepreneurial activities showed a rational upward trend.

5. Shanghai Bright Group to transit to new retail

With the rise of new retail, the traditional retail industry is facing the risk of reshuffling. To adapt to the new trend, Shanghai Bright Food (Group) Co., Ltd., an influential local agricultural enterprise is upgrading its traditional retail business and has set up Bright Business Group to integrate the shopping malls, supermarkets and convenience stores subside to its NGS Supermarket Group.

6. The Startup in Shanghai Competition Comes Back

The annually held Startup in Shanghai International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has been launched lately for 2018 for its seventh year. Statistics showed that a total of 6250 enterprises have applied for the small & micro enterprise group—a figure 4.3% higher than that of last year. To encourage more startup enterprises to participate, an innovation fund of 600 million yuan will be earmarked for this year’s Competition.

7. Shanghai Ranked 9th in GaWc and 6th in GFCI

Ma Chunlei, deputy secretary-general of Shanghai Municipal Government, said at the municipal government press briefing that Shanghai is an international city and the central government expects Shanghai to be built into an excellent global city. Notably, Shanghai has done a great job in terms of many globally recognized indexes, ranked ninth in Globalization and World Cities (GaWc), sixth in the Global Financial Centers Index (GFCI) and ninth in the A.T. Kearney's Global Cities.

8. Shanghai launched first license plates for new energy vehicles this year amid the growth of sales

According to Labor daily’s report, the first 700 license plates for new energy vehicles for this year in Shanghai have been issued to the 4S dealerships in the city. Vehicle Management Offices have adopted stricter regulations on license plates for new energy vehicles this year. While only proof of residence was required to obtain the license plate in case of expiration of a residence permit in the past, you will not make it this year if your residence permit has expired for more than one month. Moreover, vehicle owner and identification information will be added to the quota list for license plates to prevent the quota being resold and transferred.

9. What to expect at April’s technology fair

The 6th China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair (CSITF) will be held from April 19th to 21st at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. An estimated 50,000 visitors will be expected during the three-day event. With a total exhibition area of 35,000 square meters, the 6th CSITF themed on “Innovation-driven Development, Intellectual Property Protection, Technology Trade Promotion” aims to showcase the latest technologies from all over the world and facilitate the docking, trading and application of them.
