First Asia Petrochemical Trade (Shanghai) Summit launched in Shanghai

Hosted by Qitai Xinhu Petrochemical Trading Management Co. Ltd, supported by the People's Government of Qitai County and Shanghai Pudong Petroleum Association and sponsored by Guanche Online Technology Co., Ltd (Tanker Alliance), the first Asia Petrochemical Trade (Shanghai) Summit was launched in Shanghai on March 28th. More than 100 guests attended the Summit, including government and association officials, petrochemical industry experts and corporate representatives. The Summit delved into the core and cutting-edge topics in Asian petrochemical industry, encouraging more future cooperation and exchanges among participating entrepreneurs in the development of petrochemical trade in the new era.

Wu Sibin, deputy county mayor of Qitai County, Xinjiang, was present at the Summit and gave an opening speech. He gave an all-round introduction of the Qitai County in terms of socio-economic development, resources advantages, location advantages, industrial advantages as well as humanistic, historic and cultural aspects. Wu mentioned that, supported by Qitai County’s favorable policies, Shanghai and Xinjiang jointly founded Qitai Xinhu Petrochemical Trading Management Co. Ltd, an enterprise with mixed ownership. The company will provide such services as investment attraction, specialized trading management for both downstream and upstream of the industrial chain of petrochemical sector.

The agenda of this Summit was divided into two halves. In the first half, Syed Arifullah Hussaini, Vice-Admiral of the Pakistan Navy, introduced the potential investment opportunities in Pakistan. He emphasized the important role of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor under the Belt and Road initiative. The company he established after retirement from the navy has been committed to strengthening the economic cooperation between Pakistan and Chinese enterprises and providing convenience, support and guidance to Chinese enterprises to ensure their safe investment in Pakistan.

In the second half, Mr. Zhang Mingde, founder of Guanche Online Technology Co., Ltd, delivered a speech on “Integrative Sharing, Smart Logistics”. Due to the flammability and explosive and toxic nature of petrochemical products, there are certain requirements on the transportation and storage of such products. Leveraging the opportunities brought by the Belt and Road initiative while addressing the logistics bottlenecks of the petrochemical industry, Zhang Mingde proposed the “Tanker Alliance” solution, a platform created by his company with smart logistics service for hazardous petrochemical goods.“Tanker Alliance” officially went online in February this year and provided free-of-charge one-stop cross-platform trading management service as well as safety shared service for its clients, financial organizations and supervisory departments. Every client vehicle has access to Tanker Alliance’s all-round shared logistics services across the service network in the country. 

  

  The general manager of Qitai Xinhu Petrochemical Trading Management Co. Ltd said in the Summit’s closing speech that there are 50-60 petrochemical trading platforms across the country, nevertheless Xinjiang, which is the closest to OPEC countries, is still an underdeveloped market. Qitai Xinhu Petrochemical Trading Management Co. Ltd, which was founded in January 2018, or the Xinhu Trading Platform, will be committed to forming an alliance among existing petrochemical trading platforms, providing comprehensive services for block and spot trading customers as well as realizing information complementation.
