Zhangjiang Lab to collaborate with French organization CEA in information technology and life sciences

Zhangjiang Lab and CEA, the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, have jointly signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to explore cooperation in such cutting-edge areas as information technology and life sciences, according to a reporter with Shangguan News of the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The deal was inked by Wang Xi, Director of Zhangjiang Lab, and Christophe Gegout, Deputy General Administrator of CEA.

The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in France whose main business involves low carbon energy(nuclear and renewable, information and health technology, extra-large experiment devices, national defense and Global security. CEA was ranked first in the globe and in Europe respectively in 2016 and 2017 in Reuters Top 25 Global Innovators Ranking of Government Research Institutions.

“The collaboration is just the first step in our exchanges and our joint projects in research and development, which are of great importance for the research and innovation ecosystem of China and France", said Wangxi. “Zhangjiang Lab is really willing to collaborate with CEA, a world-class innovation center at the vanguard of cutting edge technologies.”

Christophe Gegout said that, “the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation will lay a good foundation for further cooperation between the two research centers in key scientific and technological areas and through this agreement CEA has strengthened its links with Shanghai’s scientific and innovation ecosystem."

Zhangjiang Lab and CEA will strengthen their competitiveness in scientific research and further energize their research and innovation through joint R&D projects and jointly held seminars and summits with local scientific research institutions, as well as through talent-exchange mechanisms.

In addition, Zhangjiang Lab will draw on the experience of the MINATEC innovation campus based in Grenoble, France, in supporting Shanghai’s development as a global science and technology innovation hub.
