The China International Import Expo in Shanghai is speeding up its efforts to attract exhibitors.
The 200-day countdown
means detailed preparation efforts have reached the final phase, said Sun
Chenghai, deputy director of the China International Import Expo Bureau. As of
April 17, a total of 906 enterprises have signed agreements with the Expo
Bureau, and 98 central government-owned Enterprises have been the first batch
of buyers. The target of the Expo is to engage 150,000 buyers and connect them
with exhibitors from various countries.
Sun described
the Expo’s exhibitor recruitment effort as “accelerating running”.
He gave the reporter a series of figures. By the end of March, more than
600 enterprises had signed participation contracts with the Expo. As of April 17, the
figure had risen rapidly to 906, meaning an average of nearly 20 enterprises per
day had signed contracts with the Expo. The exhibition
space for the signed exhibitors has reached 157,000 square meters, while over
1,700 enterprises (including the signed exhibitors) have signed up for the
Expo. Moreover, 61 countries have confirmed their participation.
Sun mentioned that 98 central government-owned Enterprises have become
the first batch of buyers and the Expo will continue to invite more overseas
buyers through a wide variety of channels like Canton Fair.
Not only has the number of signed enterprises soared, the high quality
and wide variety of the signed enterprises are also noticeable.
Among the exhibitors, there are 103 Fortune 500 companies. 34% of the enterprises
are from Belt and Road countries and regions. 10% of the enterprises are from
the least developed countries.
Some Fortune 500 companies will participate in the Expo as a whole-group
company. DuPont, for example, is going
to take its biggest exhibition team in ten years to participate in this Expo.
The Volkswagen Group has placed high importance on this Expo and plans
to carry its five brands - Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Bentley, and Lamborghini
- to the Expo, occupying a total exhibition space of 3,000 square meters.
The Expo’s seven
exhibition sections will also be the platform for many global brands to debut
their latest products, estimated Sun.
Some exhibitors are going
to showcase their latest achievements in R&D such as the HoloGram Glass developed
Microsoft, which allows three-dimensional projection from the first perspective
view. Electa, a Swedish medical firm, will bring its tumor radiation therapy
equipment. Leonardo S.p.A., an Italian firm, will showcase its helicopter
products. In addition to these, more new products, new technologies and new
solutions are expected to be unveiled in this Expo.
