SHANGHAI – A presentation on collecting the stories of multinational companies (MNCs) was held in Shanghai on Thursday, July 12. There were around 100 participants at the presentation, supported by various units and business representatives. The ongoing event focuses on the developments of the MNCs in Shanghai during the 40 years of Reform and Opening-up.

Zhang Rongjie, vice president of the Shanghai Association of Foreign Investment, stated that the 40 years is a capsule where we can see that Shanghai and MNCs have shared a common experience. It is therefore interesting to hear MNCs’ stories about the increasing openness of Shanghai, especially in recent decades.

Jiang Jing, deputy office director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, said in her speech that Shanghai had accelerated the establishment of a new open-economy system and proposed 100 measures. She considered that this activity is not only a simple review of the history of MNCs in Shanghai, but also a starting point to the reform of enterprises.

From the perspective of Yang Jing, the director of the press relationship department of the Information Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government, given that MNCs are the creators as well as the storytellers of modern day Shanghai, she was looking forward to hearing the fascinating stories from the companies.

During the presentation, the hosts introduced the content so far collected during this event. Shanghai MNCs are invited to talk about their stories related to China’s Reform and Opening-Up, from which the business environment of Shanghai may be further revealed. The hosts also shared guidelines for video-production so as to inform companies wishing to participate how to shoot videos.

Besides, these stories will be presented in an exhibition during the first China International Import Expo in November, sharing the MNC’s stories with an audience from both home and abroad.

The event is jointly organized by Shanghai Daily, Eastday.com and SMG News. It also receives support from Shanghai Association of Foreign Investment and Shanghai Daily MNC Communications Club. All MNCs in Shanghai, the leading companies in each industry and the sci-tech enterprises are warmly welcomed to participate.
