With the China International Import Expo approaching, to ensure the good condition of road and bridge facilities, the Shanghai transportation administration has carried out a special program to address gauge-exceeding and overloading problems of vans since July 16.
The 100-day-rectification program focuses on key areas like provincial boundary crossings, main channels for freight vehicles, key river-crossing bridges and tunnels, and rural roads.
To improve the road control efficiency, the Shanghai transportation department is cooperating with highway management authorities of the neighboring provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui to jointly inspect vans entering Shanghai from the surrounding Yangtze River Delta region.
In June, a cooperation agreement to jointly rectify gauge-exceeding and overloaded vehicles in the Yangtze River Delta region was signed to break through the barrier of provincial transportation autonomy.
The regional joint law enforcement mechanism has allowed Shanghai transportation commission law enforcement officials to intercept illegal vehicles at check points and toll stations in the three provinces, boosting the land network management.
