As an important stop on the Maritime Silk Road, Thailand plays a key role in the development of the Belt and Road Initiative. This month, thanks to a Thai-culture-themed event, Shanghai citizens can enjoy the exotic culture without going abroad.

The five-day-long 2018 Thai Lifestyle Festival kicked off in Shanghai on July 18. The opening ceremony took place in the presence of Ms. Sasirit Tangulrat, Consul General of Thailand in Shanghai, and Zhuang Paiji, President and Secretary General of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in China, among other guests.

As the hosting organizations of the event revealed, around two dozen companies are participating in the festival, showcasing the fashion, fruit, vegetables, and lifestyle of Thailand to citizens in Shanghai and other Yangtze River Delta cities.

The festival is really a cultural feast for the audience. Apart from performances of different kinds, such as khon, Thailand’s classical form of dance, people can also have a chance to interact with celebrities from Thailand, among whom is Pakorn Lam, a singer and actor nicknamed by his fans as Dome. He made his acting debut in 2011 with the Thai television soap opera, Rak Mai Mee Wan Tai (Love Never Dies) and also starred as a lead in the musical Tawiphob.
