The Chamber of Commerce of Chongming has signed an agreement with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of high-Corsica at the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Aiming to cooperate in ecological protection, agriculture, tourism and organic food, the agreement is to build Chongming island - the third largest island in China lying to the north of Shanghai - into a world-class ecological paradise.
Corsica, a well-known“eco-island” in France, provides a good reference for Chongming in many aspects.
Taking eco-tourism as an example, Corsica focuses on the development of “agricultural tourism” and exploits the tourism, leisure and educational functions of agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry to become a model of the global “agriculture+" industry.
Besides, Corsica's advanced water resource utilization and pollution treatment technology, intensive agriculture methods, and organic food industry chain construction, among others, could also help transform Chongming’s traditional agriculture to a modern ecological mode.
