The China International Import Expo (CIIE) not only brings global commodities for attendees to purchase, it is also a knowledge platform.

Institutions like the National Gemstone Testing Center (NGTC) of China and Gemstone Institute of Thai (GIT), among others, provide brochures on the booths for visitors to learn jewelry identification.

Thai jewellery products have always been attracting the attention of consumers around the world. Thailand not only has famous jewellery mining areas, it is also the main processing center, distributing center and import and export trade center of the world’s jewellery.

For the Expo, the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand had appointed GIT to take the lead in implementing the Buy With Confidence (BWC) plan. GIT is responsible for setting a jewellery standard to issue a jewellery certificate so as to enhance buyers’ confidence of the products.

According to a person in charge of GIT,“Since July 2018, GIT and NGTC have compared each other’s existing standards. The two sides will conduct their first collaborative project to promote the color standard of the Pigeon Blood Red Ruby, and Royal Blue and Cornflower Blue sapphires. Our goal is to enable consumers to purchase quality-assured gems with confidence.”
