Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center, one of Shanghai’s permanent one-stop exhibition and trading platforms set up for the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) started its trial operation yesterday. The center has attracted more than 200 brands from over 50 countries, with more than 7000 kinds of commodities, among which 44 brands participated in the first CIIE, including Blue River series wine from Australia, Spanish ham maker La Encina and Kendamil milk powder from the U.K.

Covering 600,000 square meters, the whole center consists of 8 halls, among which there are halls for fashion clothes, imported food and cosmetics as well as imported cars, furniture and home appliances.

“La Encina”ham a hit in the CIIE

In Spanish, “La Encina” means acorn tree, and acorns are what the Black Iberian pigs eat. During the first CIIE, Spanish ham maker La Encina, which has a history of 1000 years, brought a huge ham made of Black Iberian pig to the event and visitors were given a slice each.The ham on display quickly went viral and 500 kg of La Encina ham were all sold out during the event.

La Encina will keep their booth in the Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center until the end of January next year and is, according to the staff La Encina, looking for a prime location to open the first shop in Shanghai

Tips:

The first phase of the Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center is divided into Zone A and Zone B. Zone A, the Yangtze River Delta E-commerce Center, is located on No.1999, Shenkun Road, whole Zone B, the Exhibition Platform, is located on No.2377, Shenkun Road.

For public transportation, there is a shuttle bus between the Hongqiao transportation hub and the Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition center.The departure time is between 10:00 am and 17:00 pm.
