As the Chinese start their annual war for snapping up railway tickets for the world’s largest migration, the Spring Festival travel rush, the railway transport authority is ready to take supportive measures to ensure the smooth movement of people.

At present, the green-colored CR200J Fuxing bullet trains, the latest members of the Fuxing family, are undergoing static and dynamic tests in Shanghai railway section. Once they have passed they will be put into operation in the Yangtze River Delta region for the upcoming peak travel season around the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on February 5 this year.

With a streamlined shape, the newly unveiled bullet trains have a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour and a maximum capacity of 1,102 passengers. Equipped with the same internal service facilities as those of the existing multiple unit trains, this new type of vehicle is not only suitable for all common speed electrified railways, thus avoiding more infrastructure investment and maintenance costs, but safer and more comfortable.

For journeys to their hometown to reunite with families and then returning to their workplace, the Chinese have traditionally favored road and train transportation, especially trains, for the extensive network and lower prices.
