At the beginning of 2019, KuRunData China Online Research (a leading online research brand) and the Social Survey Center of Jiefang Daily, jointly conducted a survey of people’s lives in 2018.

The survey lists 20 indexes including labor security, monthly disposable income, medical insurance, air quality, housing price, food and drug security, public transportation and garbage classification, from which the respondents chose those which most concerned them. The 1,000 samples were collected from people aged from 18 to 55 among whom 69.1% have at least a bachelor’s degree and 51% enjoy a monthly salary of 5,000 to 12,000 yuan.

The statistics show that on the whole, the respondents were satisfied with their lives in 2018, with 70% believing that they are enjoying a happy life.

Living standard, safety and security are what citizens are mostly concerned about with food and drug security topping the list, followed by medical insurance.

Monthly disposable income and annual income are the third aspect people care most about. Over 90% responded positively to their earnings over the last year. For the 16.6% whose income couldn’t make ends meet, household daily expenses, housing price and rent, offspring’s education and medicine were the main causes.

Concerning becoming a happy person, having a harmonious family, a healthy body, enough income and a rich spiritual life were the top factors the public thought necessary.
