Learn & Show: spreading young voices to the world
By:Wu Qiong, Tang Fengli  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2019-01-08 18:19

Adolescents are the future builders of the world and the hope for sustained peace between all mankind. Nowadays, in many fields, young people are feeling a more intense urge to express their own voices and wishes, which need to be heard by the world. To provide teenagers in Shanghai with a stage to speak out, the “Learn & Show: Teenagers’ Multiple Abilities Show” has been launched in Shanghai.

On January 8th, at a news conference, the responsible parties of the program introduced the program from different angles and shared their insights on the significance of spreading the young voices from various perspectives.

Targeting teenagers in Shanghai (including children of overseas Chinese people and ethnic Chinese people), the Learn & Show program intends to showcase the innovation and creativity of teenagers by inviting the young generation to tell their own stories in an innovative way, which combines live streaming with charity, so as to tap their potential of exploring the world of science and creating new worlds.

Hosted by the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Foundation (SOCF) and Eastday (a Shanghai media company), the program is a partnership between the International Economy & Culture Exchange Center of Eastday and the Science Innovation Special Fund of SOCF, and is supported by the Shanghai Education Center of Science and Art (SECSA). Shanghai Education Television Station, Tencent Charity, and Phoenix New Media, as media partners, will also take an active part in the program.

Representatives of No.1 Gaoan Road Primary School and Shanghai Wusong Middle School were also present at the news conference, vowing to participate in the program.

After the program is launched, the first Learn & Show activity will soon begin. Participating students, regardless of nationality, will be divided into three groups according to their grade levels in school. Themed around the Belt and Road Initiative, they can sign up for a competition in three categories: speech, painting, and invention. Using their own parlance, teenagers living and studying in Shanghai can freely express their gratitude, happiness and dreams to the outside world.
