By:Zheng Qian  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2019-09-20 19:14

An exhibition on Jewish refugees’contribution to the foundation of the PRC during WWII was opened in the Shanghai Jewish Refugee Memorialon September 19.

The exhibition focuses on three foreign refugees --- Richard Frey, Hans Müller and Jakob Rosenfeld--- who came to China from Europe when they were in danger because of Nazi Germany’s mad persecution of Jews.

Feeling sympathy for the Chinese people who were strenuously fighting the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1937-1945), they joined in the fighting to help the Chinese and made key contributions to the founding of the new China. During their time in China, they also joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) and some even applied for Chinese citizenship.

In her speech, Jiang Guozhen said emotionally, "I love you, China!" In her opinion, such a memorial amid the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC is of great practical meaning. For the future, she expressed her wish that China will carry forward the past 70 years of great achievements.
